Caroline and Ellie both attended our church's annual Father/Daughter Dance this past weekend with my husband. Aren't they adorable?!? They were both so excited to go and Caroline exclaimed just before leaving "this is the best night of my life"! Once the actually made it to the dance, Caroline stood around with her fingers in her ears because the music was too loud for her liking and Ellie wouldn't let Alan put her down. So maybe they are a little young to truly enjoy it yet, but it makes for great memories. I think this is such a special thing for them to do each year!

A New Year and a Few Changes

Happy 2011 everyone! The New Year is off to a great start and we've had a few changes here at Fresh Sugar. As many of you know, Jodie moved to Willis last spring. We have worked together occasionally since then, but have found it just too difficult for her to make the trip down here on a recurring basis. So...she is starting her own photography business up in Willis and I will continue to photograph for Fresh Sugar by myself in Sugar Land and surrounding areas. We can still "meet in the middle" for big shoots if needed and I will miss her, but am excited about this new venture. Jodie was the mastermind behind our website and blog design, so please be patient with me as I have a lot to learn about web design!! Looking forward to photographing you and your families in 2011!

Kaitlyn is beautiful inside and out!! She is thoughtful, caring, selfless and wise beyond her years and we are so fortunate to have had her as our babysitter, and like a member of our family, since we moved to Sugar Land over three and a half years ago. And soon she will be graduating from high school...sniff, sniff, tear!! I am so sad to think she won't be here next year, but so excited for her to start the next chapter of her life at Texas A&M!! One BIG Happy Family!

I have known some members of this family since college...my husband was fraternity brothers with two of them and it has grown significantly since I've seen most of them all in one place at the same time! I had so much fun catching up with everyone! I pulled out my very best photography skills for this one...the only time of day they could get everyone together was 11am...possibly the most challenging time for a photographer to take pictures! There wasn't a cloud in the sky, so we tried to squeeze everyone under a very large old tree...still, the sun crept through in places, but I hope we have a keeper for the annual family Christmas card!

We are excited to say..."Our Galleries are full"!

We started this Journey back in March 2009 and it has been such a fun adventure. Both of us feel so blessed to be able to stay home with our young children and pursue our passion for photography at the same time. We obviously couldn't do that with out our wonderful clients who took a chance with us and then referred us on to their friends! Thank you for all the referrals... it's the only way we advertise!

Because we have had such success it's time to make room in our gallery space for new galleries so we are offering a special to get them cleaned up. We are offering this special for the month of September and after that we will have to delete those galleries (gasp)! Not easy to do...but we just have to! Here are some new pictures from A New Location! About two weeks ago I (Jodie) moved up to Willis TX on Lake Conroe. We really weren't looking to move from Sugar Land but this house grabbed our hearts and we listened. We really love it up here and are very excited to make this place a home! Maggie and I will still work as a team! We may not both be at all photo shoots together but hopefully will be meeting in the middle often! A Confession

I have a confession to make...photography isn't my only passion...I love to sew! I learned to sew in high school and have been creating things for our house for years. It wasn't until I had little girls that I branched out into clothes. I adore fabrics and textures and can't resist girly patterns. Here is a small sampling of what I've been doing lately. This post would be way too big if I included all of my creations! Perhaps we could outfit your little ones and photograph them...just a thought!

Big Girl Bed!

Caroline has been asking for a "big girl bed" for months now. I bought a matching set of twin beds at an antique shop in early January, but then they had to be sanded and painted and antiqued...she has been so patient! We finally had everything ready to go a couple of weeks ago and she was so very excited to spend her first night in her new bed. As I was reading her a story that first night, she looked at me with the most loving look in her eyes and said softly, "Mommy, thank you for getting me my new big girl bed". It melted my heart! Here are a few pictures taken on her new bed...she's so proud!

Caroline is Three!!

My little girl turned three back in November and I just now found the time to take her "Three year pictures". I guess it's like the cobbler's kids and their lack of shoes, right? I love the way these turned out. They really show her sassy and ultra girly personality. We love her so much and can't believe it's been over three years since we welcomed our first little girl into our family!

While in Arkansas for Thanksgiving I got the chance to take some pictures for our friends. They think I did them a favor but little did they know I now have my newest little Promo Model. :) Smiling or not smiling this little girl is just plain beautiful and photogenic.

Sun Flare

I almost didn't see the theme for the photo contest this week over at I Heart Faces. Wheww so glad I did because I've been needing an excuse to show off this picture. I don't think sun flare is very easy to capture especially not by accident (I get flare a lot by accident) but this photo I was actually trying to get it and I'll just say it took a few pics to get it:). I just thought this moment needed it...you know because Pirates like to fight at sundown right??

This is my entry for Autumn Beauty over at I heart Faces this week. I thought about entering an old photo because here in Texas, Autumn just isn't the same. Not a lot of falling leaves, cold crisp days, or craving coffee like I used too. It's still sunny & warm, flowers still bloom and I seem to crave Diet Coke more than ever. But there is a change in the air and light and you can definitely sense the Holidays coming. So I decided to post this new picture I took a couple weeks ago because this is my new reality of Autumn Days. I took this picture on our way home after playing at the beach. I found the chair at a thrift store on the way there. It was a Perfect day. :)

I found this chair on our way to the beach. I've been looking for a chair to use in pictures for sometime and when I saw this one I didn't want to pass it up. I think it just may be perfect, especially when you stick in a field with a super cute little girl on it. :)

I really enjoyed meeting this sweet family. These two little boys are twins and they are two and they kept us on our toes! It was a challenge to get them to sit for even a second but that's okay that's how two year old boys are, and we were able to work with that. I love how Thomas(the train)is part of the family too, so cute! :)

This is one of my all time Favorite pictures. (If I could blow it up to a life size mural and it not be obnoxious in my living room, I so would!)It makes me smile every time I look at it. Is there anything more exciting than your first big kid carnival ride??

I remember the knot I had in my stomach after I put them on it. I'm just a wimp when it comes to stuff like this. When it got started the look on Nolan's face made we want to tell the operator to stop the ride. But I didn't I held my breath and took pictures to pass the time(2MIN) and at the end of the ride captured the most awesome toothless grins, I have ever seen:)!!

I was a little nervous going into this shoot...I usually take pictures of families and kids and all they have to do to look cute is play and smile! This one took a little research for ideas, some awesome backgrounds in Dallas and one super fun couple...my brother-in-law, Travis and his fiance, Leslie! They were naturals!! I was so worried about this shoot. It was 95 degrees outside (will someone please tell me why it's still so hot in October;))and about a million percent humidity AND the chance of rain. But we kept it scheduled and oh my, we were so glad we did. The wind picked up, the rain held off, and we got (well you can see)some amazing pictures!:) uh ya can you say...."Amazingly Beautiful Family!!

Grayson's Growing Up

2009 Mini Sessions and Holiday Cards| Sugar Land TX Photographers

This Fall we would like to offer Mini Sessions!(Yup Christmas is coming) Mini sessions are for families who are looking to get a few great pictures for their Holiday Cards. Each session will last no longer than 30 minutes and you will have at least 5 images to choose from (and 11 super cute card templates) in an online gallery.

We have chosen Richmond TX as one of our locations this year. We just absolutely love the Train Bridge and under the bridge is the most fab gold wall(perrrfect for Holidays). Right now that is really the only spot we have chosen and have picked two dates to offer the mini sessions. We would love requests for a second location and if we book up we will make a date available for more sessions!
